Exceptional Reopening: The Lesse is Back!
This is news that brought huge relief to the whole Dinant and Houyet region: Kayaking on the Lesse is officially reopened. It was completely impossible to paddle since July 9. Today, the water level is finally high enough again.
🌊 1. Hydrological Analysis: Ban since July 9
The kayaking ban on the Lesse was exceptionally long. The Semois and Amblève also suffered from this drought. At Gendron, the flow rate dropped below 1.5 m³/s, which stopped all navigation to protect the riverbed and fishes.
📊 2. Current Water Level: Green Flag
Thanks to recent rainfall, the flow rate is now 2.23 m³/s. This means ideal conditions (Green Flag) for everyone, especially for families.

Whether you start from Gendron or from Houyet, kayaking is safe and allowed again.
